At the McKinney FamilySearch Center, we offer a variety of group activities to promote a love for family history and help you build your skills. Activities are divided into four categories: Introductory, Skill Building, Family Group/Reunion/FHE, and Additional. See details below.
We provide multiple levels of experiences to accommodate different age groups and experience levels, so come back often and explore something new!
Age Range: Many activities are suitable for youth, adults, and families. Specific age ranges are noted for each activity.
Introductory Activities - introduce beginners of varying ages to Family History.
Primary Activity: Every Family Has a Story
Children 8-12 . Children will have fun learning about why their family stories are important and begin their own personal story.
FamilySearch Activities
Youth, adults, and families. Participants discover fun ways to begin doing Family History work while learning about their own family.
FamilySearch Get Involved
Youth, adults, and families. Learn how to become personally involved supporting family history by indexing records and verifying AI indexed records.
FamilySearch Get Involved App
Youth, adults, and families. Each person needs their own smartphone with the app downloaded. Learn how much Family History you can do in just a few minutes of spare time by reviewing and verifying names in historical records.
Skill Building Activities - increase family history skills by learning various aspects of FamilySearch.
Family History Olympics 💥
Younger youth, adults and families. Go for a bronze, silver, and gold medal by completing and recording the FamilySearch activities under each medal.
FamilySearch Tree Scavenger Hunt
Younger youth, adults, and families. Learn about the various tree views in FamilySearch and how to navigate and explore their trees.
FamilySearch Person Page Bingo
Younger youth, adults, and families. Learn how to explore the various tabs on the Person Page on FamilySearch.
Working with Records *Prerequisite for FamilySearch Foundation Skills
Older youth, adults and families. Learn about the purpose of records to validate individuals in the tree.

Special Groups
Special Groups. Activities personalized and staffed by the scheduling unit or family reunion, supported by Center staff. Provide your contact information and the center coordinator will arrange a meeting well in advance to discuss how the group is intending to use the Center, activities they desire, and how the Center can support them in their FamilySearch and training activities.
We are available for presentations to your community/civic group.
